Women, Climate and a Healthy Future
Join the Zonta Says NOW movement to explore the connection between climate change and gender equality, and take action for a sustainable future.
Understanding the Connection
Climate change affects everyone - but its impacts are not always equal. Women, particularly those already experiencing disadvantage, can be disproportionately affected by environmental and climate-related challenges. ZCCB supports practical action, advocacy and research that connects climate resilience with gender equality. We promote responsible resource use, thoughtful production and sustainable choices throughout our projects while supporting initiatives that help ensure women’s voices are part of climate conversations.
Research in focus
In 2025 supported a University of Canberra’s research project on the Emerging Principles of climate change engagement, called the ''OCEANS Principals for Pacifika'', -
O Pacific Leadership and Ownership
C Cultures, Creativity, Capacity
E Equality, Address Exclusion
A Accessible
N Networked and
S Sustainable.
Led by Dr Jane Alver the project also developed a community engagement guide called "Where did my Beach "Go' - an outcome of research with people of the Pacific. This strengths-based model promotes inclusion and is getting the voices of grass roots communities heard.
